Angels for Change Hosts Fifth Annual SummitONE
Tampa, FL [August 3rd, 2023] Angels for Change hosted their fourth SummitONE Thursday, July 12th at the AmerisourceBergen, now Cencora, headquarters in Conshohocken, PA. This was the second in person SummitONE following the success from the 2022 summit hosted at the McKesson Corporation headquarters in Irving, TX.
SummitONE is the only event in the nation focused on ending drug shortages where both supply chain members and patients can attend together. This forum works with the pharmaceutical supply chain’s top leaders to bring about ONE outcome; ending all drug shortage crises. Laura Bray, Chief Change Maker at Angels for Change and Founder of SummitONE said “This national event is ONE system working for ONE outcome, together. I am proud of the growth and impact SummitONE is creating to build a resilient supply chain through collaboration of ideas, sharing of practical solutions, and fostering commitment to patients.”
The 2023 SummitONE was a sold-out event and an action-packed, 2-days of supply chain multi-stakeholder presentations from: Cencora, the Office of Science and Technology of Policy (OSTP) of the White House, Curae Pharma360, Milken Institute, Fresenius Kabi, ASHP and more. This type of patient focused collaboration makes it evident what is possible for the future of ensuring access to life-saving medicines.
“How do you get McKesson CEO, Brian Tyler into AmerisourceBergen (now Cencora) HQ and talking on stage with Steve Collis (CEO of Cencora)? A common cause - drug shortages. Really impressed by Angels for Change, Laura Bray” wrote Chris Moose from Healthcare and Platform Business at IBM.
The 2023 SummitONE Presenting Sponsor and Host was Cencora, and the 2023 Welcome Reception host was Vizient. Partnering with the supply chain to not just attend and participate but to help host is a key component of SummitONE’s success. Angels for Change creates the agenda and invites attendees; the working committee comes from volunteers from the host and sponsor organizations.
“SummitONE promotes an action oriented, collaborative supply chain approach, centered around patients. This is what makes our event unique. This is the approach that will build the resilient and reliable supply chain patients deserve. In a practical sense, shared responsibility with all members is how a small, volunteer supported, non-profit has been able to host 5 national events in 3 years. SummitONE would not exist without the volunteer work of the supply chain. We also can not end drug shortages without supply chain work. Everytime we host a SummitONE we prove that there is a culture of the willing within the supply chain to end this crisis.” Said Bray.
The 2023 summit theme was Forward, Together. Each speaker spoke about a current and collaborative project focused around increasing access and decreasing patient disparity.
