OUR AWARDS

Recognizing change agents who are passionately working everyday to end shortages and make sure patients have access to life saving treatments is an important part of advocacy. Each year, Angels for Change, will recognize both individuals and organizations who are doing extraordinary patient focused work solving drug shortages in our Change Maker of the Year and Drug Shortage Guardian Advocacy Awards.


Drug Shortage Guardian

The Drug Shortage Guardian award will be given annually to an organization, and their people, who exhibited exceptional patient centered work during a drug shortage, and have helped Angels for Change work towards our mission of ending drug shortages through advocacy, awareness, and a resilient supply chain.

Change Maker
of the Year

The Change Maker of the Year award is given to an individual who is a change agent with a passion for ending drug shortages. This is a Change Maker who is committed to and delivers systemic change.

Angels for Change announced Fresenius Kabi USA in Lake critical chemotherapy shortages of 2023. Angels for Change defines a guardian as, Defender; one that Guards, Protects those in need.

In addition to recognizing Fresenius Kabi USA, Angels for Change also presented individual Drug Shortage Guardian Awards to the following frontline Fresenius employees Karen Twardzik, VP, Customer Service Operations, and Danielle Gross, Manager, Customer Service.

The awards were given at Fresenius Kabi USA’s headquarters in Lake Zurich, IL on May 16, 2024 with Fresenius Kabi’s leadership and employees.

Angels for Change announced the 2023 Change Maker of the Year Award at their 3rd Annual Champions for Change Gala on September 16th in Tampa, FL.

The Change Maker of the Year award is given to an individual, a change agent, who has committed to and delivered significant change in the fight to ensure access to essential medicines for patients. 

This year’s Change Maker of the Year Award winner is Terri Lyle Wilson, Vice President of Pharmacy, Children’s Hospital Association. Angels for Change recognizes Terri for her supply chain and pharmacy expertise, her role as a founding team member of Project PROTECT, and her patient advocacy work for our nation’s children.

STAQ Pharma received the 2023 award in recognition of their exceptional work in serving pediatric patients during the 2022 Potassium Chloride and Sodium Chloride drug shortage.

Dan Kistner, PharmD, Group Senior Vice President, Pharmacy Solutions of Vizient Inc. was awarded the Second Change Maker Award at the Second Annual Champions for Change Gala.

McKesson Specialty Distribution business received the inaugural Guardian award in recognition for their exceptional work in response to the 2020-2021 shortage of Erwinaze, a chemotherapy drug used to treat patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Brian Tyler, Chief Executive Officer of McKesson was awarded the Inaugural Change Maker Award at the Inaugural Champions for Change Gala.
