predict • partner • prepare

Project PROTECT is a proactive approach to ensure the continuous availability of essential medicines through collaboration and risk-sharing with 503B Outsourcing Facilities. This initiative will work to alleviate the patient impact of shortages for over 100 vital medicines by leveraging onshore manufacturing capabilities. Through prediction technology and partnership PROTECT offers grass roots funded grants to 503B manufacturers who proactively prepare and develop medicines most vulnerable to shortage.

Protect ultimately reinforces resilience, on shore flexiblity, supply readiness and capacity and stabilizes the drug supply chain for patient care. Project PROTECT was awarded the CNN 2023 Champion for Change Award. See the video here.

In the process, she [Laura Bray] started a movement. She is now channeling what she learned into a national effort to predict which drugs will go into shortage and to produce them before patients have to go without

Thank you to our 2023 Project PROTECTORS
for protecting patient lives!

We are pleased to see the immediate impact this pilot has created for our hospitals. Children’s hospitals have been able to provide needed TPN and other life-saving electrolyte therapies during a time of urgent shortage. The net new supply has enabled our hospitals to ensure uninterrupted care for vulnerable patients.
