Change maker institute purpose

As advocates for change, research is a fundamental part of solving the life-saving drug shortage crisis. Our goal is to help fill the gaps in information of patient-side drug shortages. We believe that the solutions and challenges we identify will further our mission to promote change.

“Non-profits have administered grants to support the marketplace in times of national disasters and emergencies, but not in drug shortages. We believe drug shortages are a national health crisis and this pilot shows proof of concept that innovative public/private partnerships will help address this crisis.”

Pediatric oncology patients, lacking autonomy and decision-making capacity for their own treatment plans, constitute one of our most vulnerable patient populations.

90-day pilot program provides pediatric hospitals with over 140,000 essential medicine treatments.

‘PATIENT HARM’

CAUSED BY

DRUG SHORTAGES

This multi-phase research program was to better understand and then quantify the impact of “patient harm” caused by drug shortages, and to determine when and where “patient harm” is considered in the supply chain.

Implications of the National BCG Shortage
